Buy some CH4O today!

CH4O, also called methanol, is a great molecule! About 10 mL is enough to destroy the optic nerve, causing blindness, and 30 mL is potentially lethal! However, if you really wanted to kill someone with it, you would need about 100-125 mL, which is about 4 fluid ounces. If you're into open wheel racing, CH4O has been used fuel since the 1960s. It burns invisibly, and can be put out with plain water instead of having to use fire suppressants, unlike ethanol fires. If your windshield washer fluid is freezing up, CH4O is also used as an antifreeze in windshield washer fluid. If you're remodeling, methanol is used in wood adhesives. Also, if you need to make a building block for plastics, or maybe a bomb, CH4O is used to manufacture formaldehyde!

  1. Overall Appearance
I applaud Ben on the overall appearance of his blog, as he used a multi-colored background to draw the reader into the blog, but positioned it to the side so it wouldn't take away from the information in the actual blog. The color differences with the titles made the different sections very easy to tell what was where.

    Accuracy of Drawing
The accuracy of the drawing is dead on. He included the bond angles of 109.5 which is exactly how it should be.

    Polar/Non-Polar
Methanol is indeed polar, and he explained it very well in indicating which parts of the molecule were more, and less electronegative to prove the molecule was polar.

    Intermolecular Forces
Great Definitions to understand what these forces are for starters. CH4O would exhibit all three types of intermolecular forces, as Ben noted. Great Job.

Very Good Job in indicating the dangers that the molecule could cause to get out of the way, then explaining all the different and useful ways it can be used. It seems to have a lot of beneficial uses and the add is overall very convincing.
